Depth: 14-22 metres
This is a legendary dive site known by a number of names (The Rays,
Stingray City) and famous for vast numbers of huge rays which can
be found here. The species seen include Atlantic stingrays, butterfly
rays, rough-tailed stingrays, eagle rays, round stingrays and marbled
electric rays.
The local dive centres have maintained a feeding regime to guarantee
the appearance of the rays. Whilst we don’t participate in this feeding
program, our divers love the experience of seeing these magnificent
creatures. We cannot be sure that the feeding has a negative effect,
but it certainly represents a modification in their behaviour.
The wreck of a small pleasure yacht, school of Roncadores and large
numbers of other reef species add variety which is frankly not
necessary.
